Selecting Subtle Colours in Designing Web Sites

Selecting Subtle Colours in Designing Web Sites

Colour plays an important role in design, especially in web-site design. numerous shops use websites as a sales tool and using the correct colours can mean increased sales, however getting the colours wrong can lead to less users and fewer sales.

Understanding how colour works is important to all designers if they want to make a successful website. This is because different colours affect humans in assorted ways, and can influence emotions and moods. this means that your choice of colour could upset your users if you don’t get it right.

Colour could also be used to guide users to a specific area of the page. For example, you may want a user to click the purchase button, so making it bold is really vital.

Here is a guide to how assorted colours influence and affect humans:

Black is associated with power, elegance, finances and mystery. in web design, it can be very effective with brighter colours to create good contrast.

White is linked with cleanliness, simplicity, calm and purity. used on websites a lot, it can convey style and demonstrates that the website’s content is strong enough to stand alone without the any strong visual aid.

With connotations to lust, annoyance, fire and power, red, used sparingly, can be a fantastic way to attract the users attention to a certain area.

Black can be related to death, mourning, power and style. plenty heavy rock bands use black as their predominant colour due to its associations with death and evil.

Yellow summons visions of summer, joy and optimism. it is a colour that can be overwhelming and if used in conjunction with black, it creates a warning feel.

Like yellow, red is associated with love, sex and energy. it can also be overpowering if overused, although its excellent to attract attention.

Stirring up thoughts of style, modernism, fashion & elegance, grey is routinely used on spots that cover fashion, design & technology.

Purple is a mix of blue and red. it has the highlights of red, although it has more bold properties than blue. It conjures up images of royalty, religion & luxury. However, it’s not a colour that is often used in designing web-sites.

In designing for the web, purple is quite an underused colour, perhaps because it is perceived as a ladylike colour. its also linked to royalty, romance & wisdom.

Grey can be a weird colour because it isn’t strong. it is used to make fashionable, classy & calm sites. its used a lot on technology sites.

The psychology of colour can play a massive role in making a successful site. to create a subliminal expectation amongst the site user can be a powerful sales tool. selecting colours without thought can accidentally put users off the website. making colour combinations that guide users to an end goal can generate more sales & make the user experience free of stress.

Is it difficult to break into the web design industry, even with proof of college or college level education and a portfolio?

The most effective way to obtain the requirements is through interviews. Make an appointment with you customer and ask them what they want on their website. Prepare the questions well in advance.
    Type of questions:

    1. Functional Requirements
    – This basically tells you what the website should do and how does it functions.
    – Example: What the website do? What is it for? What function should be there?

    2. Non-Functional Requirements
    – This is not about the functionality of the website rather than it relates to how should the website looks and anything that is not in the functional side.
    – This requirements if it is not done the website will still function perfectly as it was intended to.
    – Example: Whats the website layout? Whats the color theme? What is the tolerable amount of time for the website to response to a request.

These are some basic yet the most important requirements you need to know.
You can always search at Yahoo! and Google for a more detailed design/software/ website requirement document sample and template.

Well, first you need to know what to look for. As the site gets bigger and better, you will have to know more of these:
    HTML
    XHTML
    CSS
    JavaScript
    Ajax
PHP or Perl or Python or Ruby or ASP or ASP.NET or JSP or Coldfusion
SQL with MySQL or Oracle or SQL Server or some other DBMS
    Adobe Flash/Flex/Actionscript
    XML/XML languages

Then, you need to know what software to use. I can help you find their sites if you need, but here's a list of their names: NetBeans IDE, HTML-Kit, Eclipse IDE, OpenOffiice.org, FileZilla, Paint.NET, Inkscape, Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer.

Then, you need to know where to learn it. For that, check out these sites:

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Good luck!

    hi.

I would write it out in letter form. make sure you use the proposal they sent you stating what they were going to do , and with different color font (red works) write underneath what part did not mean your expectations.

State how it has affected your business and how you would like a refund.
